200 Hour Teacher Training Module One and Two (200 hours) Print E-mail

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Direct time:

  • TECHNIQUES (100 hours): Asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), relaxation techniques, chanting and meditation. Includes both training in the techniques and the practice of them, indications and contraindications for different sequences of postures. (SEQUENCE ONE AND TWO - Beginner and Advanced Beginner)

  • TEACHING METHODOLOGY (30 hours): Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting, correcting, instruction, use of assists/props, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher and the student's learning process. 

  • ANATOMY/PHYSIOLOGY (30 hours): Includes physical anatomy, physiology (body systems, organs, etc), biomechanics, research, medical conditions and subtle/energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc).

  • PHILOSOPHY/LIFESTYLE (20 hours): Study of yoga scriptures, history (yoga sutras, Bhagavad-Gita, etc), ethics for yoga teachers, etc.


Indirect time - time outside of the scheduled training program, to be completed on students own time:

  • ELECTIVES (10 hours): Extra yoga courses or classes outside of the yoga teacher training program. To be chosen at the discretion of the yoga student. Proof of hours required. Student studies for 10 hours in a complementary field, i.e., Meditation training, yoga workshops, etc. 

  • PRACTICUM (10 hours): Includes teaching yoga to students and friends outside of YTT class hours. Lesson planning and implementation of classes, preferably a succession of classes over an eight week period, includes one sample outline of class format.
