For those who wish to combine a meditation practice with yoga. The yoga asanas will focus on helping open hips and chest and legs while gently strengthening core and balance to create more comfort, physical ease and endurance in seated meditation. We will also address concentration and mindful breathing. To this end, asanas will focus on cooling pranayama techniques and yoga sequences such as Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutation).
The session will consist of 10 minutes of seated meditation, followed by 45 minutes of asana and pranayama practice, closing with a 15 minute seated meditation practice, which will allow students to notice the subtle differences in body and mind before and after asana practice.
Non-meditators are most welcome. There will be a brief demonstration of the fundamental meditation technique called Shamatha before each class.
